"There is no way I can be there, there, AND there"
As we were growing our property business, it very quickly became clear to me that I was going to have to find a way to be in multiple places at once. I was needed at my home office to do desktop research and make phone calls, I was needed at live projects to oversee refurbishments, I was needed at at least 3 different rental properties to let tradespeople in to get various maintenance bits sorted, not to mention where I wanted to be (the gym, the bookstore, the coffee shop...).
Scientists had cloned a sheep; could they clone me? I could see no other option but to get my DNA and lots of lab specialists involved...
At least that's what I thought until I discovered the Keysafe to an Easier Life! I'm talking about those beautiful boxes that you've probably seen a dozen times before but never registered. They are a marvellous creation because they mean I don't need to be physically present to let anyone in to any of our properties.
Key safes come in lots of different sizes and varieties, but the ones we use are robust and small-ish and fit about 5 keys in them. We have mounted two key safes in discreet locations at all of our rental properties and use them to grant access to anyone who needs it. This means I don't waste time going over there myself and the person who needs to get in can go whenever it suits them. (This also means that if I ever do need to go over myself, I don't have to worry about remembering the keys... another mental burden eliminated.)
I don't have the hassle of waiting for people to arrive or don't have to "kill time" while I wait. If I added up how many hours I could have "killed" waiting for broadband techs or TV techs or plumbers or how many hours I could have wasted traveling to and from a rental property to let a locked-out tenant in, it could easily amount to hundreds of squandered hours... that is a LOT of time saved by using a key safe.
Key safes also eliminate the anxiety and the mental burden that come with having to plan how I am going to be in lots of different places to meet lots of different people at lots of different times. With a key safe, I just text someone the code, they let themselves in, they do what they need to do, and they put the key back after they are done. Easy peasy.
I just keep my phone nearby (that's where it usually is anyway) to give the code to whoever needs it, and I can do that from my home office, from the gym, from the bookstore, from the coffee shop, or anywhere else I happen to be. That flexibility makes life so much easier and it means no more constant interruptions throughout the day.
After almost 7 years of using key safes, we have never once regretted it. We only regretted not using them sooner or for more things.
So the question is: could you be using key safes to save yourself hundreds of hours and make your life easier?
